An overall fun book full of interesting algorithms to solve problems in astronomy. The code is overall of good quality and the book clearly explains the algorithms. The sections jump around a lot without much of a centralized theme outside of space, which is the entire point of the book, so don't plan to use this as anything more than a reference material for random space problems.

Great for astronomers who want to know more

This second in Meeus' Mathematical Astronomy Morsels series discusses a wide range calculations on events that are impossible to find in other publications.

The preface states that some of these new subjects have been suggested by Meeus's associates, while others were inspired by actual astronomical events. Among these actual events are the so-called brightest Full Moon of December 1999, the recovering of asteroid Albert in May 2000, the long-duration lunar eclipse of July 2000, and the perhelic oppositions of Mars in August 2003.

Meeus is always enthusiastic about his subject, and writes with a love that flows from that passion. The mathematics is not difficult and all calculations are laid out for you quite clearly. The morsels series, of which there are now four books, are for picking up information about off-beat topics. I suggest Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms
for calculations on more mainstraim astronomy topics. You need to not be too much of a newbie on the topic of astronomy to get the most from Meeus' books. The following is the table of contents:
