An artist's imagination run wild!!!!

I haven't gotten myself to be able to read comics online yet so this hardcover collection of Tom Scioli's web series AMERICAN BARBARIAN was greatly anticipated! I loved it! Scioli's imagination is completely let loose and on display! AMERICAN BARBARIAN is a story of revenge featuring a warrior in a post-post-apocalyptic future (I love that description). How can you not love a comic with a villain named Two Tank Omen?
I really enjoyed the format and feel of the book (slightly smaller than a typical modern comicbook). If you're already familiar with Scioli's work, this is can't miss. If you're not familiar, get acquainted!

American Barbarian is Tom Scioli doing what he does best.

Tom Scioli is one of the best artists in comics because he understands that the visuals are the means of delivering a narrative and not an end unto themselves. His art is quite good and evokes an earlier time when comic books knew the difference between seriousness and grimness. His concepts are fresh and delivered with an obvious enthusiasm of an artist fully engaged in his work.

Silly, ridiculous fun

Great silly fun. This is part Thundarr the Barbarian, part He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, part Star Wars, part Fire and Ice, all done as if it were channeled through Jack Kirby. The art looks like a 13-year-old did it trying very hard to imitate Jack Kirby, and for some reason I don't mean that in a bad way because for some reason that means my eyes never get tired of looking at it--there is always something interesting, shocking, funny, or amazing on every page.
